About us

The name VerdeVeras is a play on words – you might think that it means Green Vera, but in Spanish, ‘Ver de veras’ means ‘to see the truth’

We are an eco-friendly association providing low-impact cultural and educational events in a natural environment.

Owner – Rachel

I’m a Londoner, passionate about the environment and travelling. I speak Spanish, am involved in the Green Party and I am an active environmentalist. I have run several successful environmental projects, including establishing and running a rocket composter on an inner city housing estate, delivering sustainable living workshops for school kids and organising Green Fairs and festivals throughout the UK. I have started a new life in Spain, which I am thoroughly enjoying, as it enables me to introduce sustainable principles to the locals. I hope that you will visit at some point and benefit from your time spent here.

I could not have got this far without all my lovely volunteers who have contributed to help my dream become reality. There are photos of them all on the Our Helpers page. Thank you all, I am deeply indebted.”

Where we are

We are located in the beautiful desert region of Andalucia, Spain a 10 minute walk from the town of Vera, which has good public transport links, banks, supermarkets, etc. It is a 10 minute drive (or bus) to the nearest beach, where you will find a long, beautiful coastline, with plenty of activities, bars and restaurants.

Other nearby attractions include Tabernas, with its ‘Mini-Hollywood’ where many spaghetti westerns are filmed, and the beautiful Cabo de Gata national park, with a range of untouched beaches. There are also facilities for go-karting, horse-riding and a water park nearby. The area is very popular with walkers and cyclists all year round.
